Have a look at this amazing cat house found on a pages of Moderncat.net, our favourite resource for all things cats+design. Here's what they say:
It’s a vintage cat house designed by the office of none other than Frank Lloyd Wright. This piece was designed for the daughter of Gerald Tonkens, for whom Frank Lloyd Wright designed a residence in Amberley Village, Ohio in 1955.
The original drawing of the cat house, ‘Felis Catus’, was completed
by Thomas Olson, the site supervisor for the project. Apparently, Mr.
Wright described the design to Mr. Olson over the phone, which is why
the design is credited to the Office of Frank Lloyd Wright.

Welcome to our news blog! Here we announce our latest advances in furniture production and discuss things that we like. We mainly concentrate on all things "cat related" but in our own distinctive way; cool, modern and honest. We like what we do, and would like to hear your comments, constructive criticism and suggestions on stuff that we make. Enjoy!
Crash Pad!

About "Cats&Pods"

- About us:
- London, United Kingdom
- We are a small workshop based in London, England, aimed at designing and producing high quality furniture mainly for cats. After several attempts to find a suitable habitat for our own cat, that would satisfy not only his enormous demands but ours too, we decided to make everything by ourselves and after a few months of experimenting with different materials and shapes we finally came up with the model that is both attractive and functional, thing that is very rare in modern design in general (discuss:). After a long period of testing on various "specimens" we've decided to make this product available to other like-minded people who are bored with standard mass-produced objects. Currently known as a "Crash Pad" it is available for sale at the trendy "Lik+Neon" shop in Shoreditch, London. And since they are very proud owners of several cats, you can see our pod in full action and admire the friendly vibe of the shop. Alternatively, you can order it directly from us. Apart from carefully crafting furniture for cats, we occupy ourselves in other activities, such as graphic art, painting, sculpture, installations, music e.t.c. So watch this space!

Right, here we go!
A new product named "DOJO" has finally landed on the surface of this planet. There was no fuss, no flowers or TV crews, no fireworks and interviews. It just happened. On a bright sunny day all pieces of seemingly impossible puzzle came together and materialized into one single object. It happened so naturally that nobody was really surprised or shocked, we all knew that "DOJO" was there all the way along. All we had to do is to think about it for a year or so and then cut some ply and felt with some tools and that's it. As simple as that...
So here's a first glance at "DOJO", an ultimate tool for cats with veeeery itchy claws and their designer conscious owners.

Work in progress!
Work in progress at Cats & Pods headquarters. We are busy producing
parts for the new design codenamed "DOJO", a very modern looking scratch
post able to withstand attack of a hundred cats with very itchy claws and that sits comfortably in any interior.
It is built like a tank and at the same time looks delicate, there's not much else to say about it. Details
will follow...

Visit to the Purr Cat Cafe in Bangkok.
This month we had a pleasure to visit a Purr Cat Cafe in Bangkok, a relatively new phenomena in the West but nothing new in Asian countries who are blessed with a wide range of such establishments. You can sit and relax (after leaving your shoes outside and donning a pair of cat-friendly slippers), have a breakfast or just read your "Bangkok Post" and enjoy a company of super-friendly felines who dominate and rule the space. I hear critics saying, it's not hygienic, it smells or cruel to poor animals, but I can confirm I have seen none of that. Place is clean, cats are healthy, smells are the ones coming from your fresh coffee and people behave, as it is not your average "greasy spoon caf" but something on a different scale.
Note that the cafe is very popular among locals and almost always full so don't be surprised if you have to wait to be seated.
Sometimes I wish I was a cat...
Opening Hours: Tuesday to Friday: 11:00 - 22:00 and Saturday and Sunday 11:00 - 23:00
Address: Soi Sukhumvit 53 Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok, Thailand 10110
Tel: +66 2 108 3604
There are rumors that something similar will be in operation in the city of London, difference is, all cats will be "sourced" from local rescue centres and shelters, which is undoubtedly British. We love charitable work, especially when it evolves around animals.
